Today marks a very special milestone for us – 7 years since Vital first opened its doors.
When I think back to the early days, it’s been an incredible journey. From being named a finalist in the British Hairdressing Awards for Best Independent Newcomer (the first from the South West to ever achieve that!)… to flying the flag in Los Angeles and my own appointment as Joico Blonde Ambassador for the UK – it’s been a whirlwind of hard work, creativity, and passion.
Of course, it hasn’t been without its challenges. Running a salon with high standards is no small task – and like so many businesses, we’ve weathered the storms of Covid and now navigate the ongoing economic challenges that affect us all. But through it all, we’ve kept our focus on growing, reinvesting in future talent, and continuing to improve the salon itself. We’re even exploring exciting sustainability projects, including the possibility of solar panels on our roof to help power our future.
The real heart of Vital has always been people. Over these 7 years, we’ve been lucky enough to help young school leavers grow into professional stylists, shaping the next generation of hair talent. Our salon has also evolved to embrace better sustainability practices and to give back locally through our Give Back to Taunton programme – supporting our community in ways that go beyond hair.
I also want to recognise our staff past and present. Every stylist, colourist, apprentice, and front-of-house team member has played a part in building what Vital is today. Their skill, creativity, and care for our clients have kept our standards high and our atmosphere welcoming. Whether they were with us for a short chapter or have been part of the journey for years, each has left their mark on our story.
On a personal note, I want to say a huge thank you to my own clients. Some of you joined me the day I opened Vital, others have followed me from before it existed – and there are even a few who have known me since I was just 18. Your loyalty, trust, and friendship mean more to me than words can say.
To our wider Vital community – every client who has sat in our chairs, every staff member past and present – thank you for helping to make Vital what it is today. You are the reason we’re here, and we couldn’t have reached this milestone without you.
