At Vital Salon, we don’t believe great hair starts with colour or cutting.
It starts with understanding.
Before we begin any balayage, blonde work, colour change or treatment, we start with a detailed consultation using K-Scan scalp and hair analysis and, where suitable, a personalised Kérastase Fusio-Dose treatment plan.
It sounds technical, but in practice it’s simple. We look closely at your hair and scalp so we can understand what it actually needs before we do anything to it.
WHAT IS K-SCAN AND WHY DO WE USE IT?
Most people only know their hair from how it looks in the mirror.
K-Scan allows us to look deeper.
It gives us a closer view of both the scalp and the hair fibre so we can understand things such as:
- dryness or dehydration
- scalp balance
- signs of breakage or stress
- hair density
- product build-up
- overall condition of the hair
The aim isn’t to overcomplicate things. It’s to remove guesswork and make better, more informed decisions about your hair.
Stylist insight (Nick Martin)
“Most hair concerns have a reason behind them. When you can actually see what’s happening, you stop guessing and start making better decisions for the hair in front of you.”
WHY THIS MATTERS BEFORE COLOUR WORK
If you’re having balayage, blonde work or colour correction in Taunton, your hair condition makes a huge difference to the outcome.
Two people can want the same colour but need completely different approaches depending on:
- previous colour history
- heat styling habits
- natural hair strength
- porosity
- scalp condition
Without understanding this first, colour becomes less predictable and sometimes less consistent.
Stylist insight (Rosie)
“When we take time at the start to properly understand the hair, everything that follows becomes more controlled. Especially with blondes, it really changes the result and the condition of the hair long term.”
INTRODUCING KÉRASTASE FUSIO-DOSE
After the consultation and K-Scan analysis, we may recommend Kérastase Fusio-Dose if the hair needs additional support.
It is a professional in-salon treatment that is mixed specifically for your hair using:
- a Concentré (targeted to your main hair concern)
- a Booster (added support such as shine, strength or hydration)
Each combination is created in the salon for the individual.
No two treatments are ever the same.
WHEN WE USE FUSIO-DOSE
We use Fusio-Dose when the hair needs targeted support, especially before or after colour services.
It can help with:
- dryness and dehydration
- weakness from bleaching or colouring
- lack of shine
- rough or porous texture
- hair that feels difficult to manage
Stylist insight (Eran)
“We only use treatments when they’re needed. The goal is always to support the hair properly, not overload it with things it doesn’t actually need.”
HOW THE CONSULTATION EXPERIENCE FEELS
A consultation at Vital Salon is not rushed.
It usually includes:
- talking through your hair history
- understanding your routine and lifestyle
- looking at your hair and scalp with K-Scan
- explaining what we can see in simple terms
- building a realistic plan for your hair goals
Stylist insight (Jess)
“A lot of what we do is education. Once someone understands their hair properly, they feel much more confident about what they’re choosing and why.”
WHY THIS APPROACH WORKS
Hair changes over time.
It’s affected by colour, heat, lifestyle, stress and environment.
That’s why every appointment starts with understanding the current condition first.
This approach helps us:
- choose better colour placement
- protect the condition of the hair
- improve long-term results
- create more consistent outcomes
- support healthier hair overall
A MORE THOUGHTFUL WAY TO CARE FOR YOUR HAIR
There are a lot of quick fixes in hairdressing, but healthy hair still comes down to understanding it properly and working with it, not against it.
K-Scan and Fusio-Dose help us do exactly that.
Not by overcomplicating things, but by making decisions based on what the hair actually needs.
